Sefi on Hollywood Blvd
As I was walking home the other day from the Hollywood and Highland subway stop, I passed by some dude named Sefi selling some of his paintings:
I fell in love with these paintings of a Brazilian neighborhood (his wife is Brazilian and he visited Brazil a few years ago) that I bought one of 'em:

An East L.A. Mural
I found this mural at some random side street in East L.A. That is one of the things I love about this part of town, you can be walking down some random side street and you'll unexpectedly find something beautiful that was made with soul to look at. Unfortunately, I don't even remember where it is.
Artist: I can't make out the signature on the second photo.

Puro Muerto
I went to check out the
Puro Muerto exhibit at the
Central Library yesterday. I loved it. Go check it out!

Also, there are going to be several
Dia de Los Muertos celebrations all over the city.
This is probably the most comprehensive list of events that I am aware of. If anybody knows of a more extensive list, please let me know.
This is my favorite festivity of the year.

Miss Van in L.A.
Word of mouth had it that there were some wall pieces by
Miss Van at
Fornarina (a women's clothing store on Melrose) that were going to be painted over soon. I wasn't aware of any pieces by Miss Van in LA, so I had to go check it out for myself. These are some photos I took last week:

Event at Union Station
As someone who has been taking public transportation in LA since I was an egg, I love the idea behind this event:

Anahuac Mural
Several weeks ago I came across the Anahuac mural in Boyle Heights. Its this 400 sq ft mural on the perimeter wall of Roosevelt High. It is a mural celebrating the history and accomplishments of Mexico and Central America. It took the muralist
Nelyollotl Toltecatl six years to complete this mural.
Here are some shots I took:
The close ups that I put up are somewhat a disjointed story of what the mural actually depicts. More pictures of the mural can be found
here.
Also,
the mural is on Mott St between 4th and 6th.Labels: Anahuac mural, Boyle Heights, East L.A., Legal Murals, Los Angeles, Mott St, Nelyollotl Toltecatl, Roosevelt High
Ribbon Controller
Looks like it is underneath an LA river bridge.
Photo by no.fiI always wonder if these people who accidently end up in photos I post up here ever actually visit this site and go "oh shit wtf?"

Red Pepper on a Skateboard
This little guy is close to the corner of 1st St and St Louis(?) in Boyle Heights. Its a "legal" piece that is part of a store front. Its right next to
Ernesto de la Loza's Bridges to East L.A. mural. Anyway, I've always thought it as cute.

Collete Fu's Photo Binge
If you go to the Hollywood and Highland redline station and go down these flights of stairs...
and then another flight of stairs...
And look to your left, you will find a series of very busy and surreal images.
More info can be found
here. (The link says that the photos are at the 7th St/Metro station and makes no mention of them being at the Hollywood/Highland station. Well, they are certainly at the Hollywood/Highland station.- I haven't personally seen them at the 7th St/Metro station though.)
