  1st St Murals
Here are some of the most beautiful murals I have seen in L.A. so far. These pieces are at the Unitard Gallery (on 1st St. in downtown close to the L.A. river). I was not able to take close ups because I could not get passed the barbed wire fence.

Left:

Artist: Dash2000and Nuke

Center:

Artist: Asylm

Right:

Artist: Kofie

On another side of the building is this:

Artist: Sven Barth

Comments:
I found out from dash2000.com, (the website of "Nuke" aka Joseph Montalvo) that this was a group show with "asylm / dash / 12er / nuke" that was held in March for Unitard Gallery

I just edited in who the artists are of each piece. I hate how I forget to do that sometimes.

and i just edited in that the place is an art gallery.

*sigh*

i get too eager to post and realize a lot of the important details that i did not include several hours or days after posting.

It was great meeting you outside Trader Joe's last night... wish we could have exchanged names at least but we had our hands full.

I was able to confirm names by the stencils in the black border alongside the murals. If you go to their websites or google the nickname, you can match the look you may find other information - and then "bomb" - you have details and new websites to add to your blogroll.

"12er" may be the missing artist credit line - for the face facing the street.

Don't be too hard on yourself, memo. Some of the other blogs are done by professional journalists, like Maria's husband, Mike. You'll catch on getting details if it's what you want for your postings.

the first one is done by dash2000 twelve and nuke from uti

kofie has been one of my favorite artists since for the last few years now and his stuff never fails to impress.

Hey ......
This is Dash2000......yea so this is how those murals came to be...........
Kofie had been asked by the owner of UNITARD (sven) to hook those walls up.......
Asylm had one wall and one was promised to Nuke, well Nuke was in mexico and they needed that square done so went down there to start mine, that very minute Nuke showed up, and we said well fuck it lets do it......i had a simple sketch for the black parts but the rest was freestyled......Nuke really brought out the japanese theme well......
The cherry blossum trees(sakura) on the mural are at the end of there season (sakura fuboki) and the kanji in the background means to dream.......

We enjoyed it glad you all enjoyed it, time to put some art back in the art district was the feeling behind the piece......

peace and respect and thank you for the kind words everyone.....

btw dash2000.com is my site iam hooking nuke one up soon........
