I'm not sure what's more sad - the original act of vandalism, or the painting over of the mural.
Incidentally, I think people who vandalize murals should be shot. Seriously. It's such an immense act of disrespect. I feel nothing but hatred for people like that.

Stochastic - "Shot" may be a strong word, but I do agree that tagging murals is marking over artists whom for the most part advocate grafitti. SPARC, the Social Public Art and Resource Center in Venice has championed this art form - but also have been tagged on it's major pieces. There has to be a way to let others know that you should not mark a voice who speaks for you.
